Club Grand Prix

Dursley Running Club – Grand Prix 2019

Now in its 3rd year, the DRC Grand Prix is back for 2019. The race series will end with a men’s and ladies champion based on race results gathered through the whole year. Points will be accumulated by every participant attending any of the designated races and at the end of the year, the man and woman with the highest points will be crowned champion.

To make things fairer, all results will be age graded using a recognised source and all participants will be required to compete in at least one of the different types of race (which is described in detail below)

Only 7 races are required to qualify (reduced from 8 in previous years) and as mentioned earlier, everyone attending will score points. At this stage, some of the race dates are still to be confirmed and we are showing just the month, but these will be updated as soon as possible.

The running totals will be published regularly on the updates page which will reflect the current situation as we move through the year and can see who is doing what.

The league tables will be published regularly on the Results Page >>

Rules

General

  • To compete in the Grand Prix you must be a fully paid member of Dursley Running Club.
  • Club members are responsible for ensuring their own entry to each race and should follow all race rules for each individual event entered.
  • All members should ensure that they are listed as ‘Dursley Running Club’ when entering a race to enable race results to be searched.
  • It is the club member’s responsibility to inform the Grand Prix organisers (Tony Freer and Mike Crompton) of their result if this is not the case for whatever reason.
  • Dursley Running Club kit must be worn for all races (exceptions such as charity vests, fancy dress, inclement weather etc… will be allowed at the organiser’s discretion!).
  • To be included in the Grand Prix, all marathon results must be registered using this link >> before the 1st November 2019.

Qualifying

  • To qualify entrants must ensure:
    • At least 1 of each type of race is completed (Road, Trail).
    • At least 1 of each distance is completed (5k, 10k, ½ Marathon).
    • In total, no less than 7 qualifying races are completed.
    • The best 7 results from qualifying races will be used to calculate each members overall score, with additional point scoring races simply being discarded.

Scoring

  • Points are awarded based on the club members finish compared to other club members after race times have been adjusted using age grading.
    • 15 points will be awarded to the top male and female,
    • 12 points for 2nd,
    • 10 for 3rd,
    • 8 for 4th,
    • 7 for 5th,
    • 6 for 6th,
    • 5 for 7th,
    • 4 for 8th,
    • 3 for 9th,
    • 2 for 10th,
    • And then all other remaining finishers receive 1 point each.
  • Where any of a number of races can score (e.g. parkruns) then each member’s fastest time over the series will count towards overall score. So the final scores for these will be calculated at the end of the series/month.
  • For the optional marathon, finish times age grade adjusted, will form a table with current points allocation being shown, but these will remain fluid until the end of the season as a participant may go to enter and complete a different marathon in a faster time and therefore move up the points rankings.
  • Times will be taken from the published official race results, using chip time where available, otherwise gun time.
  • In the event of a tie in total points, the winner will be decided by total number of 1st place finishes. If this is also a tie then number of 2nd place finishes will decide the winner, and so on until a winner can be determined.
  • In the event of less than 3 men or women meeting the full qualifying criteria, prizes will be awarded based on total points scored regardless of qualifying races completed.

Prizes

  • Trophies/Prizes will be awarded for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall male and female based on their overall Grand Prix score.
  • New for 2019: All runners who fulfil all the criteria for qualifying, regardless of total score will be entered into a prize draw for a special prize!
  • Prizes will be presented at the 2019 Dursley Running Club Awards Evening.
