Grand Prix Update

Congratulations once again to our inaugural DRC Grand Prix winners; Tony Woodridge and Alice Lewis.

Dave Durden completed The Forest of Dean Half (just about by the sounds of it) completing the necessary 8 races to secure his 2nd place! This means Jonathan Tudor had to settle for a well-earned 3rd place having raced in 11 of the possible 15 races in the 2017 series.

In an exciting finish in the women’s league, an excellent performance by Margaret Johnson with not only a half marathon PB but she also secured the maximum 15 Grand Prix points. With Alice Lewis also racing well it meant that Eileen Hieron had to settle for 3rd place and 10 points, crucially denying her the 2 points required to stay ahead of Mags. So in the end Mags gets 2nd place with Eileen in 3rd.

Finally a special mention to Shona Darley and Julie Froggatt who were the only other 2 club members who would have qualified for the prizes finishing 4th and 5th respectively. Well done!

Thanks to everyone who entered the 2017 event and we hope it has had a positive effect in some way to your running.

So, on to 2018 starting at the Stroud Half Marathon. As well as a new selection of races there are a few minor tweaks to the rules to look out for too.

Good Luck!

Tony & Mike
