SPOND

We now use SPOND to administer training session attendance. When you’ve registered with us you will receive a SPOND invite and you’ll then be able to see up-coming training sessions, communicate directly with the coaches and for the yr7+ athletes choose your athletics training focus.

Programmes

Thursday Mini Athletics led by Annette Keevil

For Reception to Yr2 athletes. Thursdays 5.30-6.00pm at the Rugby Club until November then at Rednock Sportshall. Sessions are games based athletics with a gentle introduction to run, throw and jump technique practice. You must register your athlete with us (see new member link above) to receive invites to training sessions.

Thursday Yr3-6 Athletics led by Caroline Jones

For Yr3 to Yr6 athletes. Thursdays 6-7pm at the Rugby Club until November then at Rednock Sportshall. Sessions include run, throw and jump technique practice, strength & conditioning work and some games and team races.  You must register your athlete with us (see new member link above) to receive invites to training sessions.

Saturday Muddy Running sessions led by Dan Lygo

For Y3+ athletes 9.30am – 10.30am. These sessions include a mix of cross country training, trail running and orienteering, please check the start location when booking. You must register your athlete with us (see new member link above) to receive invites to training sessions.

Yr7+ Athletics and Running led by Dave Durden

For 11-18yr olds – 6.00pm – 7.30pm Wednesdays meet at Rugby Club. You must register your athlete with us (see new member link above) to receive invites to training sessions.

Junior Membership

Membership is £35 for the year for yr3+ athletes, £20 for the year for Mini athletes (reception to yr2), renewable in September. If you have more than two junior athletes in the club you need only pay for the two oldest junior members.

Optionally you may affiliate your Junior to England Athletics, this will be an additional cost payable in April – charged at the current EA affiliation cost, but unless you are entering regional events it is unlikely you will need this (Country Cross Country competition events now require EA affiliation). About the DRC Junior Section

Our vision is to encourage young athletes to participate and enjoy a wide range of running and athletics activities, providing opportunities for athletic development and competition, embedding a healthy appetite for sport and exercise which will continue into adulthood.

We provide a number of opportunities for Junior Members to take part in running and athletics activities. DRC Junior members are aged between 7 (school year 3) and 18. However we also provide some training opportunities when we are able to for Reception to yr 2 athletes. All training sessions are delivered by DBS checked, UK Athletics qualified coaches and coaching assistants.
