As a club we want to support our local community. Each year our members nominate a charity and funds are raised and a proportion of our income is shared with that charity.
The 2024-2025 charities as voted for at the AGM are Cotswold Boatmobility (Cotswold Boatmobility – Freedom On Water) and GL11 (GL11 Community Hub)
In 2023-2024 Dursley Running Club supported two local charities – Longfield Hospice (Longfield Hospice – Community Hospice Care: Home) and Read with Me (Home – Read With Me).
We have recently presented our donation cheques to both charities who were delighted with the donations received. Thankyou to everyone who gave their time (or cakes) in order to make our events a success which has resulted in these donations throughout the year.
Our donation to Read With Me will give 17 children from local schools one to one reading with a volunteer twice a week, for a year, which will be life changing for them – both now and throughout their lives.
I’m sure there are many of us that have experienced and can appreciate the valuable local service provided by Longfield over the years.
As you know DRC have made it our mission to work with local charities where we can really make a difference. In addition to making financial donations both charities also rely on the help of volunteers – if you can spare any time please contact the charities direct.
In 2022-2023 Dursley Running Club supported two local charities – Catch a Smile (Catch a smile – For families and people with disabilities & special needs enjoy fishing.) and GL11 (GL11), both received a cheque for £536.00
